It was almost a shut out for North Bay Goaltender Jake Smith in a 3-1 win last night over Belleville.

The Bulls scored on their final shot of the game with 12 seconds remaining. Battalion Head Coach Stan Butler says it was a good bounce back game for Smith after a 5-2 loss last Sunday.

Tomorrow (Saturday) is when the Troops take on the Sudbury Wolves.

The Troops led 1-0 after the first as Mike Amadio opened the scoring. Nick Moutry and Ryan Kujawinski added goals in the second, while Jake Smith made 21 saves in net.

Kujawinski also had an assist, giving him 51 points on the year. Butler says he’s got a lot of skills that make him dangerous for the opposition.

After almost 40 games out of the lineup due to a concussion, Zach Bratina skated with the Battalion in their 3-1 win. Butler says he was pleased with Bratina’s efforts.

The Battalion are now in third place in the Eastern Conference with 73 points, one ahead of the Ottawa 67’s. The Battalion and the Wolves battle on Country-600 CKAT at 6:35pm on Saturday night.
