ontc-logoThe United Steelworkers Union Local 1976 have a new five year contract agreement with Ontario Northland.

Ron Marleau who represents USW says they had been in contract discussions since last October, and their last contract ended on December 31st.

He says this represents stability and security for the workers and the hope of more work coming.

Corina Moore is the ONTC’s Interim President and CEO, and she says this deal supports a big part of their operation.

 

In a release Minister of Northern Development and Mines Michael Gravelle says, “I commend the efforts of ONTC management and the USW in working together to negotiate this agreement that balances the business needs of the ONTC, the interests of employees, and the need to provide sustainable and affordable public services.”
