norceca day 2 - 3(File photo) North Bay is fast becoming a beach volleyball destination.

Three more major tournaments are lined up for this summer and they’ll be played at a new beach volleyball facility.

Vision Sports and Entertainment President Amedeo Bernardi says it’s all because of the success of last year’s events, that are looking to return for the foreseeable future.

He says they needed more of a full-time location to be able to do that.

This summer will see an OVA youth tournament, the OVA adult elite grand slam with 32 teams, along with the marquee NORCECA beach volleyball tournament after the Pan Am Games in Toronto with those athletes coming up to North Bay.

Overall, Bernardi says it’s great to see that a relatively small centre can attract these types of events that normally wouldn’t be played outside of a major urban area or even north of the U.S. border.

The new facility will also feature a summer beach volleyball league.
