daffodil campaignThe local chapter of the Canadian Cancer Society held its daffodil month kickoff event on Thursday.

It took place at Parker’s Your Independent Grocer.

Manager of the North Bay and District Community Office Gil Pharand says they have several events planned this month to raise funds including the selling of fresh cut daffodils at Parker’s, but that’s not all.

He says they will also sell Daffodil pins and there will be door to door canvassing as well.

The owner of Parker’s is Stuart Parker. He says it’s important to help community initiatives like this because cancer touches everyone.

The grocery store initiative is happening at many Loblaws stores and Parker’s is the local one.

The fresh cut Daffodils will be available for purchase until April 23rd.

All the money raised support research into cancer and community support services.
