Taxi cabs the focus of an undercover city police compliance project

Several police officers in North Bay recently went undercover for a Taxi Compliance project.

This project had officers making sure cab drivers were following all the by-law regulations.

Deputy Police Chief Shawn Devine says this project is mandatory every few years and was just a part of their regulations.

He says there will be some charges laid as a result of the investigations.

However, Devine says they aren’t criminal charges, but fall under the same by-laws as a parking ticket.

He says these projects take place in other areas regularly and he believes they have a good working relationship with the taxi companies in the city.
