mooseIn the same week the province announced a reduction in the number of moose tags for hunters, a vehicle collided with two moose on Highway 522 in Nipissing Township.

The crash happened just before 8:30 pm Monday.

The Powassan Fire Department used extrication equipment to remove the driver from the vehicle.  They suffered non-life threatening injuries.

OPP remind motorists to use caution while driving and be alert to your surroundings.  They point out most wildlife collisions happen between 5am and 7am and from 6pm to midnight.

Just over 11,400 tags will be available when Ontario’s moose draw opens later this month (April 21st).
