Bobby Orr trophyThe next round of playoff action for the North Bay Battalion and the Oshawa Generals starts on Friday.

On Wednesday, a news conference was held where both coaches and captains talked about the upcoming Eastern Conference finals.

Oshawa coach DJ Smith says after being swept last year by North Bay they knew they needed to get bigger and they did acquiring players like Michael McCarron.

For the Battalion, coach Stan Butler says even though they won the Bobby Orr Trophy in 4 games it was not an easy series, as the games were extremely close.

Butler says goaltending will be key as both teams are strong in net with North Bay’s Ken Appleby between the pipes for Oshawa and Jake Smith for the Troops.

The games in Oshawa are almost like home games for Battalion captain Marcus McIvor, who is from nearby Whitby.

Oshawa’s captain is Josh Brown.  With the loud fans here in North Bay, he says it’ll be no easy task winning here.

Broadcast time for game 1 on Friday from Oshawa is 7:05 pm on Country 600 CKAT.
