Al McDonald

Summer in the Park was a major topic on this morning’s Council Capsule. Mayor Al McDonald was Matthew Sookram’s guest, and the Mayor said the Festival Committee hit it out of the park with this year’s lineup.

Johnny Reid and Burton Cummings will headline on Friday and Saturday respectively.

McDonald says you can’t get that kind of entertainment anywhere else for the price of $25 for wristbands.

McDonald says he believes they can achieve their goal of selling 10,000 wristbands, and says it’s just a matter of getting the community and businesses to fully support the event.

Meantime, Council has asked City Staff to create some bylaws which would allow ATV’s on selected area streets. McDonald says it’s time they looked at capitalizing on the ATV tourism industry.

McDonald also talked about the Invest North Bay Development Corporation. He says the Corporation is set up with a single focus on bringing in jobs and industry to the city.

McDonald says other cities are going to this model, and they are competing on a global stage for those businesses and industries.
