burrows2Saturday is a red letter day for Burrows Country Store and Garden Centre. At 10 am it will turn a century old. The business got started by Harvey Burrows in 1915 and he sold groceries, flowers, horses  and feed at Percy and Cassels. President Bob Hudson says later former Mayor Jack Burrows ran the business. Hudson says their products changed over time and they moved too to 3rd and Cassels.

And that’s when they started selling other items including pet food, farm feed and lawn and garden products.

Hudson says they’ve been fortunate to stay in business this long but their secrets are they a community based business, they have hard working employees and loyal customers as well.

Hudson says their celebrations tomorrow will include a grand reopening at 10 am and there will be many former employees, long time customers, the mayor and even a town crier on hand.
