NB-Matt Source Protection Area

A plan that has been in the works for ten years will still need a little more time before it’s fully implemented.

The Source Water Protection Plan was presented at Monday’s Committee meeting of Council by Planning Services Manager Bev Hillier.

She says it will be staying on committee for now, because Council wanted to see an amendment made in relation to the Energy East Pipeline proposal.

Hillier says “if that is to be included there is a significant amount of work that needs to be done to evaluate that risk.”

She says if the Energy East proposal is considered a significant threat to the watershed, then amendments need to be made to the official plan.

Hillier says this plan has been an on-going process since 2005.
