ontc refurbishment1(File Photo) Railcar mechanics have been recalled by the ONTC.

This after capabilities at the Remanufacturing and Repair division have been expanded and the addition of some recent repair contracts.

They include heavy repair on ore cars used in the mining industry, lumber car repairs, heavy maintenance and repairs on a fleet of 300 box cars used in the newsprint industry and locomotive maintenance and engine rebuilds for a local railway company.

Officials say the division expanded its capabilities over the past year and now offers locomotive overhauls, freight car repairs, wheel recalibrations and specialty paint services for large equipment.

“I am very proud that our reputation for quality work and our enhanced sales efforts are attracting new business.” said John Thib, Vice President. “Over the past year we have expanded our repair, refurbishment and remanufacturing services. Our customers appreciate that we operate our own railroad. We understand the challenges they face with equipment and can offer solutions because we too face them. We are committed to growing this part of our business and know that it enhances our local and regional economies.”

There’s no specifics on how many employees were recalled.
