medical_doctorOntario’s Minister of Health is expecting some feedback from Northern Ontario as the government prepares to gives patients a stronger voice.

Dr. Eric Hoskins says between now and the end of August, everyone will have a chance to put in their two cents about the type of Patient Ombudsman they would like to see.

He says in everything they do do they’re “making sure it’s relevant to those that live in the north but also that we engage them in the decision making, whether that’s at the policy level more broadly or whether it’s specific at the community or hospital level.”

The Ombudsman will look into complaints from patients and health-care providers at hospitals, and long-term and community-care facilities – and make recommendations to put patients first.
