Canada-SumJobs125 young Canadians in North Bay, Temiskaming Shores are surrounding areas are working this summer thanks to a Canada Summer Jobs investment of $322,000.

MP Jay Aspin and Employment and Social Development Minister Pierre Poilievre announced 85 employers are involved in the program.

$43,600 was also announced for Cementation Canada for skills training through the Canada Job Grant.

Meantime, 53 of the organizations involved in the Summer Jobs investment are in our area.

They include the Canadian Cancer Society, Near North Palliative Care Network, North Bay and District Multicultural Centre, Weed Man, Nipissing University, Northeast CCAC, Heritage Gardeners, the Chamber of Commerce, Nipissing Lodge, Induspec, Blue Sky Animal Hospital, Greenwood Baptist Church, Metis Nation of Ontario, Gagnes Red and White Store Ltd., L’Arche North Bay, Habitat for Humanity North Bay, the Health Unit, Calvary North Bay, North Bay Youth Soccer, Downtown North Bay, NADY-Paddle program, the Jack Garland Airport, CAA North East Ontario, Science North, Capitol Centre/WKP Kennedy Gallery, Fish Bay Marina, South Shore Evangelical Missionary Church, Mattawa Women’s Resource Centre, the Township of Papineau-Cameron, Discovery North Bay, AIDS Committee of North Bay and Area, the Town of Mattawa, The Gathering Place, Funding Matters Inc, Children’s Aid Society, Township of Nipissing, North Bay Legion Track Club, Little Wings Child Care Centre (Hornell Heights), Greening Nipissing, the Conservation Authority, Canadian Red Cross, Alzheimer Society, Callander Public Library, the YMCA of North Bay, Fairview Early Learning and Child Care Centre (Powassan), VON North Bay, One Kids Place Children’s Treatment Centre, Trinity United Church, The United Church of Canada (North Bay), Mattawa Museum, Near North District School Board, St John Ambulance North Bay and the North Bay Indian Friendship Centre.
