It cost the city $87,000 to fix all the frozen water pipes this past winter and spring.

Crews responded to 384 calls and Chair of Engineering and Works Tanya Vrebosch says some residents didn’t get their water back until May.

However, she says when comparing the costs to other city’s, North Bay was able to mitigate the costs.

She says Sudbury spent $713 per house hold, whereas North Bay spent just $226 per house hold. Vrebosch, on how they were able to keep the costs down.

Vrebosch says this was largely considered the worst year for frozen pipes in the city.
