Nipissing First NationThe Nipissing First Nation has moved to close the commercial walleye fishery on Lake Nipissing  for the season at noon on Saturday.  The closure will remain in effect until the end of the spring moratorium next year.  The decision follows a recommendation that the fishery should be closed by the end of the month.  This decision follows earlier changes to reduce the season, extending the spring moratorium and reducing the number of gill nets being permitted from 5-3.

The Nipissing First Nation says this means the season is being reduced from 7 months to 3. .
