GilboeOOY2015Local conservation officer Peter Gilboe has been honoured a few times lately.

Recently, he was named the winner of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry officer of the year award.

In addition, he received a similar award from the Ontario Conservation Officers Association. President Tim Rochette says Gilboe says he has led and been involved in several major investigations that led to the prosecution of major cases.

He says he has been named winner of the Shikar-Safari Club International Wildlife Officer of the year award.

Gilboe has received the Diamond Jubilee medal, an exemplary service medal, an award of valor and 2 life saving awards.

Rochette says a conservation officer plays a key role in the protection of the environment.

Gilboe has been a conservation officer for 29 years and is currently based at the North Bay Enforcement Unit.
