voodoosThe NOJHL season gets underway tonight for the Powassan Voodoos.

They’re on the road to Noelville to take on the French River Rapids.

Their home opener is Monday against Elliot Lake.

Meantime, the Voodoos have signed three forwards, Daniel Walker from the North Bay Battalion, McKenzie Gray from the Barrie Colts and local forward Michael Silveri from the Sudbury Wolves.

michaelsilveriheadshotvoodoosIn a release, the team says Silveri (pictured) returns from the Wolves camp where he had 2 assists in two exhibition games last week, including an assist on a goal in Sudbury’s 5-1 loss Tuesday night to the Battalion.

Last season the 6’4”, 208 pound forward netted 14 goals 26 assists 40 points in 45 regular season games with the Voodoos.

Meantime, in Daniel Walker the Voodoos get another big, physical forward (6’1”, 175 pounds) who was a 10th round pick of the North Bay Battalion this past spring. 

The Val Caron, Ontario product played Minor Midget last year for the Sudbury Wolves where he netted 15 goals along with 17 assists for 32 points in 38 games with the minor midgets.  

At 6’5”, McKenzie Gray is another big forward who was just released as a free agent  tryout from the Barrie Colts camp. 

The 1996 birth year forward from Keswick, Ontario played last season with the Georgina Ice Jr C squad where he had 13 points in 26 games. 

To make room for the tall trio, the Voodoos released 1995 American forward Travis Valvo.
