A busy weekend for North Bay Police with 246 calls for service with 14 people charged and arrested for various offences including trafficking, stolen property over $5000, possession of a prohibited weapon, domestic assault, uttering threats, public intoxication, assault with a weapon, and several other counts.

 Drug charges
Four North Bay residents are facing drug related charges.

The charges were laid after police observed a drug transaction between 2 people on Saturday night on Wallace Road.

Police arrested two males and seized 20 methamphetamine pills, 120 dollars in cash, an edged weapon and a vehicle.

Later the next day a search warrant was executed on Britton Street where two other people were picked up. 

More items were seized including 4500 Methamphetamine pills, numerous boxed items that were suspected to be stolen and two vehicles.

The street value of the methamphetamine pills is estimated to be 30 Thousand Dollars.

The charges include trafficking, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of stolen property over 5 Thousand Dollars, possession of methamphetamine Pills for the purpose of trafficking and possession of stolen property under five Thousand Dollars.

(Child Luring)
A 41 year old North Bay man was arrested and charged following suspicious online activity. Police say it is alleged between June 26th and August 30th the accused used social media to communicate with an under 16-year old male victim of North Bay in a sexual manner.

He also arranged to meet the victim on two occasions in the victim’s backyard where the accused provided him with marijuana and sexually assaulted him. Police received a report on August 31st by a complainant close to the victim and Police executed a warrant on the accused residence.

James Rudolph Young is charged with two counts of online luring of a person under 16, one count of trafficking marijuana, one count of sexual interference with a person under 16, one count of sexual assault on a person under 16 and one count of invitation to sexual touching. The investigation is ongoing.

 

(Sexual Interference)
Police report an arrest has been made regarding a sexual assault.

This stemming from an investigation that began in December 2014. It is alleged that on several occasions between 1992 and 1998, the accused made sexual advances and sexually assaulted a male victim who was a child at the time.

The accused turned himself in to police headquarters last Thursday. 49 year old Sean Patrick Joseph Leblond of Caledon is charged with three counts of sexual interference with a person under 16 and one count of sexual assault.

 

(Assault/uttering threats)
North Bay Police report the arrest of a young person with one count of assault causing bodily harm and one count of uttering threats.

The incident occurred on March 31st 2015. It is alleged the accused physically assaulted another youth outside a local high school.The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the incident.

It is also alleged the accused threatened the victim in August of this year.

 

(Forcible Confinement)
A 35-year old Attawapiskat man has been charged with one count of assault and one count of forcible confinement by North Bay Police.

Police say on Saturday, an argument occurred in a North Bay motel room around 5am between the accused and his female partner. They say that argument turned violent when the accused physically assaulted her and then prevented her from leaving the room.

In the interest of protecting the victim the North Bay Police Service will not be releasing the name of the accused.

 

(Assault with a weapon)
A 19-year old North Bay man is charged with one count of assault with a weapon following a report of a suspected domestic assault last Friday.

Police say a verbal argument between the accused and his common-law partner turned violent when he threw an object at her. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries as a result.

In the interest of protecting the victim the North Bay Police Service will not be releasing the name of the accused.

North Bay Police have charged young person with break and enter with intenet and breach following an incident on Saturday morning.

Police say they received a call about a person outside a North Bay storage facility. 

Meantime,  Downtown North Bay says there was some damage done to Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli’s office.

The front window was smashed with a brick.

As well, graffiti was put on a building in the walkway from the parking lot by the Capitol Centre to Main Street.

Downtown North Bay is asking for anyone in the area that might have had a camera to contact them.
