Kathleen JodouinJob creation, healthcare, the economy, the environment and pipelines were just a few of the topics discussed on part two of Country 600 CKAT’s “Meet The Candidates” series Friday morning.

NDP candidate Kathleen Jodouin was our guest.

Jodouin says her priority should she be elected on October 19th is to listen to constituents concerns and bring them to Ottawa and fight for the people of the riding.

With the Energy East Pipeline Proposal, Jodouin says Trout Lake is a vital public resource and needs to be protected.

She also says more work needs to be done on all energy projects. “We need to ensure that we have those Environmental Protection Acts, we need to ensure we have a thorough, credible, assessment process and we especially need to ensure we have a consultation with the public that is meaningful”

When it comes to healthcare, Jodouin says the Federal Government needs to help out the province with better funding. “Unfortunately Stephen Harper has decided not to follow through with the health accord, that’s $36-billion missing from the provincial pocket.”

She says there’s $91-million missing from our riding for health care services.

In terms of paying for promises, Jodouin says the NDP has committed to balancing the books.  FedNor was also discussed and she says it should be an independent agency.

If you missed it, you can listen to the interview below.

The next one on one Meet the Candidates session goes next Friday morning just after the 8 o’clock news with Green Party candidate Nicole Peltier.
