AIDS CommiteeSeveral events are lined up locally for World AIDS Awareness Week — which starts tomorrow and runs until Tuesday, December 1st, which is World AIDS Day.

AIDS Committee of North Bay and Area Communications Coordinator Kirk Titmuss says that’s when the main events will be taking place at the Diegel Parkette at Fraser and Main West.

There will be a vigil and proclamation read by Mayor Al McDonald, followed by the Red Scarf ProjectTitmuss says that involves red knitted scarves being tied in the downtown area and left for anyone who needs one.

There’s also A Day Without Art with a number of local art and tattoo studios shrouding works of art to pay tribute to members of the arts community lost to HIV/AIDS.

Information on the events can be found on the committee’s website aidsnorthbay.com.

Meantime, the Red Ribbon Auction that was scheduled for Saturday has been cancelled and will be held in the new year. Officials say ticket sales did not reach expectations.

All donations will be offered again and tickets for the auction will be honoured on the new date or can be brought to the Committee for a refund.
