legoKids aged 9 to 14 will demonstrate their knowledge about finding alternate solutions to reducing and managing waste.

This is the theme of the first Lego Robotics tournament taking place at Widdifield Secondary School this Saturday.

There will be 10 teams taking part to showcase their Lego Robotics as well as demonstrating teamwork and sportsmanship.

Jessica Kelso is a team mentor and she says they are encouraging the public to come and watch the event from 9am to 2pm.

She says the public and people in the community should see how much the kids have grown and see all the hard work and effort that has been put into these projects.

One project is based around a recent Stanford study which found that mealworms can eat Styrofoam which is then converted into carbon dioxide and biomass.
