mayor al mcdonaldThe 2016 City Budget was the main topic on Council Capsule this morning. Mayor Al McDonald was Matthew Sookram’s guest on the first show of the new year.

McDonald says within the budget there is money for two big projects this year.

McDonald says they are getting money from both the province and the federal government to help with the overpass project.

Meantime, he says there is going to be a big focus on growing the city as they move forward.

McDonald says the way to do that is through population and jobs.

One of the issues causing some debate between Councillors was the plan to recall the hydro loans.

McDonald says he feels this was a good step for council to take, and it allows North Bay Hydro to increase their own profits.

As well, the Baylor Survey was discussed and there were two big themes that came out of the survey.

He says those were the communications efforts of the city and the need for growth in North Bay.
