NEW opp policeA three vehicle collision closed Highway 11 in both directions for several hours on Tuesday between Marten River and New Liskeard.

OPP say a northbound Tractor Trailer lost control and crossed the centre line around 10am and the highway wasn’t reopened until around 4.

An oncoming southbound vehicle avoided the tractor trailer by crossing the centre line but then struck a northbound OPP cruiser head on.

The police officer was transported by ambulance to the hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle was treated for minor injuries at the scene while the driver of the tractor trailer sustained no injuries.

Meantime, the intersection at Seymour and the Bypass was closed to traffic for about 30 minutes on Tuesday because of an accident. 

North Bay OPP say a car failed to stop at a train crossing and collided with a train.

Two people were in the car and neither was injured.

The 19 year old male driver was cited under the Highway Traffic Act for disobeying a railway crossing signal by failing to stop.

OPP say the train’s signal lights were activated at the time of the accident.

and a 21 year old Corbeil male is facing several charges after a vehicle went into a ditch Monday  afternoon on the ramp leading to 17 from Highway 11 in North Bay.

The charges include driving while ability impaired, driving while under suspension and driving with more 80 mg of Alcohol in blood.
