change your clocks change your batteriesIt’s a habit that can be life saving.

North Bay Fire and Emergency Services officials are reminding residents to change the batteries in smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors when changing the clocks this weekend.

Daylight Savings Time returns on Sunday with clocks being moved ahead one hour before bed Saturday night.

Officials say most fatal fires happen at night.

They say working smoke alarms provide an early warning and critical extra seconds to escape.

Meantime, they say take a minute to check the age of every alarm in your home, pointing out smoke alarms need to be replaced after 10 years and 7 years for carbon monoxide detectors.
