FedeliThere are concerns about gas prices in Nipissing, and MPP Vic Fedeli brought those concerns to Queens Park today (Wednesday).

He says North Bay and Powassan recently passed resolution regarding their concerns and request there should be regulations put in place.

Fedeli says drivers in northern Ontario often see wide ranges in gas prices compared to other areas and the government should take this concern seriously. Fedeli points to five other provinces currently utilizing a price regulation system with a maximum price set.

Meantime, the budget bill, bill 173 was passed today.

Fedeli says it did not get support from the Official Opposition.

He says in a release “This reaffirms the Financial Accountability Officer’s assertion surrounding use of one-time money to reduce the deficit, and that it will be difficult to balance after 2017-18 – conveniently right after the next election.

Fedeli says “life will become more unaffordable for Ontarians now” and “The budget bill contains a loophole for the use of cap-and-trade revenue, similar to the loophole allowing Hydro One revenue, earmarked for transit, to be used to lower the deficit.”
