Not much movement in local employment and unemployment figures

Statistics Canada reports the jobless figure last month locally was 6.9 percent.

That compares to 7.1 percent in April 2015.

It’s within the standard error (1.7) therefore is not deemed statistically significant.

Employment, meantime, was unchanged at 54.4.

The figures include the City of North Bay, Callander, East Ferris and Bonfield.

National unemployment remained unchanged in April at 7.1 percent.
