The Health Unit and the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change continue to monitor the fuel oil leach clean-up on Neault Road in Papineau-Cameron Township.

The home heating oil contamination west of Mattawa was first reported by the Health Unit in late April.

Officials say they have received water sample results from some residents and they are below the detectable levels.

They go on to say the clean-up has begun involving a hired contractor, and the extent of ground contamination is still unknown.

Currently there is no fuel oil sheen on the lake.

Meantime, if residents notice a fuel oil odor or a sheen from their drinking water they asked to contact the health unit.
