mcmaster signing
Battalion owner Scott Abbott and Adam McMaster, the Troops first round pick in the 2016 OHL Priority Selection

The annual orientation camp for the North Bay Battalion camp wrapped up Sunday with news that first round draft pick Adam McMaster has committed to the club.

He says he signed here for a lot of reasons, including the fan base, the high level of hockey the Battalion play and the excitement that he saw here during the teams playoff run.

As for his performance during the orientation camp, McMaster says he was okay but there’s plenty of room for improvement, both on and off the ice.

The team also announced this weekend that assistant coach John Dean will be the lead assistant with the departure of Ryan Oulahen who is now the head coach of Flint.

Troops Head coach Stan Butler says it was a good weekend of on-ice action with highly competitive and intense play, which gave the players a sense of what to expect in August for the start of training camp.

Meantime, today is the final day for season ticket holders to claim their tickets for the game in November between the Russian National Junior Team and a team of OHL All Stars.

Tickets to the general public go on sale tomorrow.
