North Bay OPP are asking motorists to slow down.

They say June usually accounts for the highest number of reported wildlife collisions in the year.

Police say in the past week, there have been 16 in our area involving wild animals and vehicles.

Half involved deer, 7 involved moose and the other was a bear.

Fortunately there were no serious injuries mainly because the drivers were forced to take evasive action to avoid a collision.

Police say look for the wildlife warning signs on the highway indicating an area of risk so you should be slowing down, use high beams at night and watch for the animals and avoid doing any distracted driving.
