North East LHIN

150 health care leaders from across Nipissing and Temiskaming Districts got together with the Northeast LHIN for a daylong meeting.

Director of Communications and Community Engagement for the Northeast LHIN Cynthia Stables says the idea behind the meeting was to come up with ways to eliminate duplications of service and to fill in the gaps for people.

She says it was a very constructive and positive meeting.

Stables says the system is ready to come together to provide co-ordinated care in this area.

She says physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, the health unit, the District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board and EMS were all represented at the meeting.

Stables says there wasn’t  a lot of new information at the meeting but there is a sense of a need for better use of technology, improved communications between providers and more help to navigate the system for patients.
