Hundreds of people came out to show their support on Armed Forces Day in North Bay.

The event got started with a parade of military personnel from City Hall to the Waterfront, where the Skyhawks Canadian Armed Forces Parachute Team (video above) and a CF-18 demonstration took to the skies.

On the ground there were military static displays.

The Commander of 22 Wing Col. Henrik Smith says the day was all about the community for there is a great relationship here with the military.

He says the day is their way of saying thanks.

Col. Smith says community members do a lot of understated things for the military members and their families including support for events like this but also things like helping family members who may have a military member overseas.

He says Armed Forces Day in North Bay is the largest or one of the largest in the country.

Ontario Lieutenant Governor Elizabeth Dowdeswell was here for the event too.

She is also be the reviewing officer for the 73rd Annual Ceremonial Review of the Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps Brilliant at Fort Chippewa Barracks.

The review marks the end of the cadet’s training year.
