The McDonald’s locations in North Bay and Sturgeon Falls had their best McHappy Day yet in terms of fundraising.

They set a new record-over $6,600 for children in need.

The money is going to the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Unit at the North Bay Regional Health Centre.

Brad Haines owns McDonald’s restaurants in North Bay and Sturgeon says it’s inspiring to be connected to the health centre and the mental health unit is caring for youth in our community.

The Haines family has pledged 25 Thousand Dollars to the unit.

The Director of Mental Health-Youth and Seniors at the health centre Lise St Marseille says the donation demonstrates the community’s commitment to improving access to quality mental health services for children and youth across the district.

A functional kitchen was recently installed at the unit to help children learn basic life skills. And it was made possible by last year’s McHappy donation.
