City Public Works on Water Scams and Tests

City Public Works is advising residents about a potential scam involving door to door sales of water filters.

Officials say there are people claiming to represent the city going door to door saying the water is contaminated and they need to purchase a filter to ensure safe drinking water.

The city says the information is false and these people — who are asking for personal and banking information or a void check, do NOT represent the city.

The city advises Uni Directional Flushing of the Water Distribution System is getting underway.

Crews will be in the Graniteville/Queensway area of the city, going block by block.

Officials say there may be low water pressure or cloudy water during flushing — which should return to normal after the flushing stops.

Drivers are asked to exercise caution in areas where crews are flushing water mains.
