The North Bay Battalion Charity Golf tournament goes today (Monday), in support of One Kids Place and a who’s who of former Troops and NHLers are taking part.

The event has raised over $125,000 in it’s first three years.

Jake Smith, Kyle Wood, Mathew Santos, Nick Paul and Mike Amadio are taking part along with former NHLers Darren Turcotte, Kevin Hodson and Shean Donovan.

Amadio scored 50 goals this past season, becoming the first Battalion player to reach that milestone.

He says it wasn’t easy as he had to take on a bigger share of the scoring load following the retirement of linemate Zach Bratina.

Amadio says it was a tough transition to become more of a scorer and he was able to do it.

The next stage of his career will be an interesting one as he tries to make it at the next level the pros.

He says will be at the Los Angeles Kings training camp in the fall and wants to be noticed, in what will be a competitive camp.

Amadio says the fans were amazing in North Bay and he will never forget his three years here.

The sold out golf tournament is taking place at the North Bay Golf and Country Club.
