Funding available for sustainable projects using rubber

There’s funding available for sustainable community projects that use Ontario-manufactured rubber products, like playground tiles or rubber flooring in community centres or arenas.

Funding for 50 percent of the cost of the manufactured rubber products, up to $50,000 is available through the Ontario Tire Stewardship Community Renewal Fund.

Director of Programs and Education Claudia Hawkins says municipalities, school boards, post-secondary schools, community or non-profit groups can apply.

She also says they’ll fund 25 percent of the cost of granular rubber products, like crumb in-fill for artificial turf or rubber mulch, to a maximum of $50,000.

The application process runs until July 31st.

Funding will be available in the fall.
