City Hall generic

It’s not often someone presenting at city council doesn’t make their presentation.

But that was the case last night (Monday) for Don Rennick of the North Bay Taxpayers Association.

He was about to make a presentation when Mayor Al McDonald asked to him apologize for comments made previously.

He refused and the mayor ruled he couldn’t make his presentation.

Rennick was asked why he didn’t apologize and says he had nothing to apologize for.

He says he indicated at the time “staff is either misleading council or staff doesn’t know what they’re talking about”, but he says he never accused anyone of lying.

The mayor says there is a code of conduct for anyone that speaks at a council meeting.

McDonald says the comments in question were said at a council meeting about staff deliberately misleading the council and the citizens and as chair he has the ability and power to stop those presentations when something like that is said.
