Lakeshore Community Safety Zone

$257.50.

Including court costs and victim surcharge, that’s how much the speeding ticket was from the highest registered speed in a Community Safety Zone on the first day of school.

City police, who are conducting a two week Back To School Traffic Enforcement Campaign, say a vehicle was clocked doing 67 km/h in the O’Brien Street Community Safety Zone, which has a limit of 40 km/h.

It’s one of three charges from that zone.

Two more speeding tickets were issued in the Algonquin Community Safety Zone while two speeding tickets were also handed out on Trout Lake Road.

Meantime, police say officers didn’t see any drivers failing to stop for school buses, but Stock Transportation reports four instances.

Two were on McIntyre Street with one each on Airport Road and Elmwood Avenue.

Police also say four 72-hour notices were issued for failing to show proof of insurance or vehicle permit.
