Municipal politicians from across the north will be in Elliot Lake tomorrow.

They’ll take part in a Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities meeting.

FONOM President Al Spacek says there will be three main issues of discussion including infrastructure funding for local and regional airports.

He says this is is a big issue for smaller communities that support airports who feel they should be eligible for infrastructure money.

He says the other key issues include concern about natural gas increases under the incoming carbon tax.

Spacek says they want an exemption that the prices won’t rise in the north.

He says the 3rd issue concerns restrictions with the new feed and Tariff program and the fact that northern communities are not eligible to receive funding which would finance solar projects for example.

Spacek says they are all immediate concerns and one doesn’t take precedence over the others.
