Anthony Rota

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has said that young voices must be part of their decision making process and that’s why MP Anthony Rota is forming a Constituency Youth Council.

There’s two groups, one for high school youth ages 14 to 18 and a post-secondary council for youth ages 17 to 25.

Rota is bringing 10 to 20 young people from the riding together to engage and listen to them on issues that matter to youth.

Once selected the Council will meet several times throughout the year to discuss a number of issues that could include climate change, access to employment, LGBTQ issues, peacekeeping and more.

Rota says he wants to hear what is on the minds of young people so they can take those messages back to Ottawa.

He says the big benefit is getting young people involved in the democratic process.

Rota says by getting interested early young people will become accustomed to participating in the real process of democracy.

Applications are due by midnight October 5th and can be found at Rota’s constituency office, Facebook page and official website.
