The rehabilitation of the Trout Lake Road overpass won’t be taking place until next year.

Monday night, city council started the process by awarding a 113 Thousand Dollar contract to the company that will perform the engineering services.

The project will see the sidewalks, guide rails and asphalt replaced from Giroux to Mountainview and repairs will be made to the deck and substructure.

Councillor Jeff Serran says the city has received a 2.9 Million Dollar grant from the province and that’s 90 per cent of the cost of the project.

He says the tender process will be next year and it’s still not clear when the work will begin.

Serran says he would like to see it start in the summer but it could even be later in the year.

Trout Lake Road is classified as a connecting link roadway by the province thus the grant.
