North Bay has its first facility dedicated to mental health, Post Taumatic Stress Disorder and psychotherapy.

It’s called The Morgan Centre and is located at St Joseph’s Motherhouse on Main Street West.

It’s being led by Psychotherapist Kelly Morgan.

She says she has 4 therapists working at the centre.

She says she came with this idea of treating people with trauma, anxiety and depression after seeing many veterans.

Morgan says these veterans haven’t always had the help they need and it’s rewarding to see them grow.

She says people who suffer from PTSD may have all or some of the symptoms that include anxiety, depression, nightmares, addiction and anger.

Sandi Cook’s husband was a North Bay Police officer who committed suicide.

She says she still experiences PTSD even though she lost her husband several years ago.

She detailed instances of other officers committing suicide and that just brings back the tragedy in her family.

Cook credits former North Bay Police Chief Paul Cook visiting her to make sure she’s doing okay.

She says that always hasn’t been the norm.
