The Chair of Summer in the Park says the festival will finish in the black this year.

John Strang says the event was a success this year thanks to the band Hedley attracting a large crowd.

What that final number will be, we’ll have hopefully in the next week or so and that report to council will be done up and we’ll be in front of council.  But, it was successful, it will be successful next year,” said Strang following the monthly North Bay and District Chamber of Commerce meeting on Thursday.

He expects that profit number to be around $20,000.

Meantime, Strang says he’s stepping down from the committee along with Chamber of Commerce President Jake Lacourse.

The owner of U-Need-A-Cab says he’ll spend more time on his business, and also feels the time has come to give someone new a chance.

“I never intended to be there for three years, we just happened to work out that way, had a great time, great committee, but it was time to step back,” said Strang.
