The North Bay Battalion earned two out of four possible points on the weekend.

They scored a 2-1 come-from-behind win in Ottawa on Saturday, but lost 1-0 in Kingston yesterday (Sunday).

Brent Moran made 28 saves in the loss, which was the Troops first on the road this season.

The Battalion are now 3-1 on the road and 1-4 on home ice.

North Bay looks to improve that record on home ice Thursday night as they entertain the Ottawa 67’s.

 

In the NOJHL, the Powassan Voodoos won 5-1 over Kirkland Lake last night at the Sportsplex.

Five different Voodoos scored in the win.

Powassan is back in action Friday at home to Rayside-Balfour.

 

In OUA women’s hockey, the Nipissing Lakers opened the season with a couple wins on the weekend.

After a 5-2 win over Queens on Saturday, the Lakers beat UOIT 4-3 in a shootout yesterday.

On the men’s side, Nipissing beat Queens 4-3 in double overtime on Friday, but lost 4-3 in double overtime to UOIT on Saturday.

In OUA women’s soccer, Nipissing won 2-1 over previously undefeated Ottawa on Saturday and tied Carleton 2-2 yesterday.

The Nipissing men, meantime, tied Carleton 1-1 yesterday after 3-1 loss to Ryerson on Saturday.

The Nipissing Lakers Lacrosse team is now 4-6 on the season after a 15-7 win over the University of Ottawa on the weekend. The Lakers are now in 4th place in their division and must beat Bishops this weekend to secure home field advantage for the playoffs. The Lakers will host Bishops for two games on the weekend.

 

The North Bay Midget AAA Trappers took part in a weekend tournament in Ottawa making it to the quarterfinals before losing to a Mississauga team.

The Trappers won their division in round robin play with three wins and a tie. North Bay returns to league action Wednesday at Memorial Gardens against New Liskeard.

The Pro Sports Flag Football League Championships will be played Sunday at the Omischl Sports Complex.

There will be finals in competitive men, recreational men and mixed divisions.

Cecil’s will be defending in the competitive men’s, Gooo Deep in the mixed and Fusiliers are the defenders in the Recreational Men’s.
