Some great results for local athletes at the NOSSA cross country event in Espanola yesterday (Wednesday).

Widdifield’s Reuben Du Rand won the senior boys event.

St Joseph-Scollard Hall’s Neil Kovacs was second in midget boys and Widdifield’s Keon Wallingford was second in junior boys.

The Wildcats midget girls were second in team results while the junior girls and senior boys at Widdifield were both third in their divisions.

The OFSAA championship goes November 5th in Port Hope.

 

The NDA senior football final goes tomorrow night (Friday) at the Omischl Complex.

West Ferris is taking on St Joseph-Scollard Hall.

The game begins at 7 o’clock.

The junior semifinals go Saturday afternoon with Franco Cite hosting Widdifield in Sturgeon Falls at noon and West Ferris playing Algonquin at the Omischl Complex at 2 pm.

 

In the NOJHL, the Powassan Voodoos play twice this weekend at the Sportsplex.

They host the Timmins Rock tomorrow night then entertain Iroquois Falls on Sunday afternoon.

 

A couple games for the North Bay Midget AAA Trappers this weekend.

They travel to Copper Cliff to play the Sudbury Minor Midget Wolves tomorrow night and Saturday night.

 

It’s quite a busy weekend for sports at Nipissing.

The Lakers men’s hockey team visits Laurentian tomorrow night after a 3-1 loss to their Sudbury counterparts on Wednesday here in North Bay.

The women’s hockey team puts their perfect 4-0 record on the line Saturday on the road against Brock.

They also play York on Sunday in Toronto.

The playoffs in men’s lacrosse go Saturday with Nipissing in Peterborough playing Trent.

Lakers rowing is at the OUA championship in St Catharines this weekend while the Nipissing Women’s basketball team is playing an exhibition tournament in the same city.

The women’s volleyball team plays Lakehead on Saturday while Nipissing Cross Country is at the OUA championship in Toronto on Sunday.

 

Three Canadore varsity teams are in action this weekend. In men’s basketball, the Panthers play tomorrow night at home to St Lawrence then Saturday afternoon against Loyalist.

Canadore opened the season last weekend with an overtime loss to Seneca.

In OCAA volleyball, both Canadore teams host Georgian on Sunday.

 

Laurentian Ski Hill is hosting a job fair today (Thursday) from 4 pm to 8 pm in the upper lodge.

Positions are available for instructors, lift operators, snow makers, rental technician, sales staff and terrain park ranger.

Those interested are asked to bring a resume and prepare for a short interview.
