Goalie woes for the North Bay Battalion.

The Troops lost 4-2 in Erie last night (Saturday) but also saw netminder Brent Moran leave the game with what Coach Stan Butler described as an upper body injury.

Bradley Van Schubert was brought into the game.

His OHL rights are held by Owen Sound but he was acquired as an emergency backup after Mat Woroniuk was hurt in Thursday’s loss to the Soo.

Both Moran and Van Schubert allowed two goals each in the loss to the Otters.

Brett McKenzie and Jacob Ball scored for the Battalion.

North Bay is back in action Wednesday at home to Oshawa.

 

Make is 16 wins in a row for the Powassan Voodoos.

They scored a 4-3 double overtime win in Timmins last night to extend their franchise record win streak.

Andy Baker scored the overtime winner.

Tyson Gilmour scored twice in regulation with Gabriel Rheault also finding the back of the net.

Powassan wraps up their three game road trip in Iroquois Falls this afternoon.

 

In OUA women’s hockey, the Nipissing Lakers wrapped up the pre-Christmas portion of their schedule with a 3-2 win over Laurentian.

Despite battling injuries, the Lakers improved their record to 10-1-1.

In men’s hockey, Nipissing won 3-1 over Western.

In OUA volleyball, both Nipissing teams won yesterday.

The men defeated RMC 3-0 while the women won 3-1.

Both Lakers basketball teams lost to Ottawa yesterday.

The men dropped a 79-63 decision to the Gee Gees while the women lost 62-44.

 

In OCAA men’s basketball, the Canadore Panthers dropped a 90-88 decision to George Brown.

They enter the Christmas break with a 4-6 record.

Canadore is 8th in the East Division standings.

 

Back to hockey, the North Bay Midget AAA Trappers lost 2-0 to the Sudbury Nickel Capital Wolves last night in Copper Cliff.

The two teams meet up again this afternoon at 3:30 at Memorial Gardens.
