Keith Urban paid respect to many of the great musicians who passed away in 2016 during his Music City Midnight New Year’s Eve performance in Nashville Saturday night (Dec. 31).

His eight-minute set, leading up to midnight and airing on CNN, included a medley of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah,” Glenn Frey’s “Take It Easy,” David Bowie’s “Heroes,” Merle Haggard’s “Mama Tried” and Prince’s “Purple Rain.”

Wife Nicole Kidman appeared with him onstage to assist on “Heroes”, and stayed beside her husband to dance along to “Mama Tried” and “Purple Rain.”

Kelsea Ballerini got engaged to Australian artist Morgan Evans Dec. 26. The two met when they co-hosted Australia’s Country Music Channel Awards Mar. 12.

~~On Christmas Eve, Kacey Musgraves got engaged to boyfriend Ruston Kelly. He proposed in her childhood home bedroom and decorated it completely with Christmas decor.

Kacey Musgraves updated fans on Instagram:  “I didn’t say yes…I said HELL YESSSS!! Last night, the best man I’ve ever met got down on one knee in my little pink childhood home…in the same room I played with my ponies and Barbies and asked me the easiest question I’ve ever been asked. I finally know what everyone means when they say, ‘You just know’.”
