The Nipissing Lakers women’s hockey team’s newest recruit is set to light the lamp for years to come.

They’re announcing top local player, Maria Dominico is committing to the team for next season.

Head coach Darren Turcotte says she was a tough recruit but is glad she’s coming here.

He says a player of her calibre could have played anywhere, whether it be at a CIS school or an NCAA institution.

Dominico says her decision was based on playing closer to her family and friends.
