A forum that brings together the discussion around food, farms and tourism is taking place today (Monday) in North Bay.

The event goes at 100 Elements at Canadore College.

Culinary Tourism Alliance President and CEO Rebecca Mackenzie says it’s for operators in the food tourism value chain.

“We’re bringing them together to talk about what is food tourism, what can it do to grow their business and help to really strengthen the partnerships between the agricultural and fisheries sector with the tourism/hospitality sector,” she said. “So that it not only results in increasing tourism visitation to a destination but also helps to address key issues around food security and economic development.”

Key topics include the farm-to-table movement, food tourism 101, market-readiness and a best practices panel.

Mackenzie says not only is the event about awareness, it’s about connecting business operators in the region so they can think about fostering new partnerships or enhancing existing ones to create a richer experience for the customer that speaks to the “taste of place”.
