The North Bay Battalion say they were robbed of a win Friday night in Kitchener.

After leading 4-1 after two periods, the Troops lost 5-4 in a shootout.

The Battalion point to controversy over one of the Rangers three third period goals.

In a release, the Troops say Kitchener was awarded a goal “on a play that was called no-goal on the ice and on which video failed to show the puck ever crossing the goal line.”

Goal scorers for North Bay included Zach Poirier with two, along with singles from Brett McKenzie and Steve Harland.

The Battalion are back on home ice late Sunday afternoon against Peterborough.

 

In the NOJHL, the Powassan Voodoos beat French River 14-2.

Dylan D’Agostino had two goals, with a dozen other Voodoos adding singles.

Powassan is back in action Monday taking on Cochrane.

 

In the Great North Midget League, the North Bay Midget AAA Trappers shutout New Liskeard 5-0.

Ryan Mills scored twice for North Bay.

Cole Craft, Nick Davis and Joe Jordan also tallied in the win.

Goalie Joel Rainville got the shutout.

Next up, the Trappers play in Timmins today.

 

In OUA men’s basketball, the Nipissing Lakers won 93-84 over Queen’s.

The Nipissing women lost 96-46 to Queen’s.

Both teams play York University today.
