The consolidation process for six North Bay schools begins this week.

The Near North District School Board says the Accommodations Review Committee has been formed and is holding an orientation session on Wednesday.

That’s also the day when community partners, school boards and affected municipalities have been invited to attend a different meeting.

It involves the recommendation made in a staff report calling on E W. Norman, W.J. Fricker ,E.T. Carmichael, Chippewa, West Ferris and Widdifield to be consolidated into two new builds.

One would be a new JK-6 school at the W.J. Fricker site and the other would be a new Grade 7-12 school at the Chippewa site.

There will also be two public meetings.

The first one goes February 15th at Widdifield, while the second meeting is being held May 8th at Chippewa.

There will also be a special meeting in June.
